Programme Overview

The Junior County programme is designed for players aged 12 to 14 who are currently competing close to or at County Age Group or County Performance Pathway standards.

This programme provides a challenging and high-performance training environment for ambitious young cricketers looking to maximise their development and prepare for the demands of representative and performance cricket.

Sessions will focus on embedding strong technical foundations through a combination of deliberate practice, skill acquisition, advanced drills and constraint-based learning methods. Players will be challenged to refine and adapt their skills while developing a greater understanding of performance requirements within competitive cricket.

As the programme progresses, training will increasingly replicate the pressures, intensity and decision-making demands of match play. Players will be exposed to competitive scenarios that develop tactical awareness, game intelligence and the ability to execute skills consistently under pressure.

Throughout the programme, players will develop:

  • Advanced batting, bowling and fielding skills

  • Tactical awareness and game management

  • Decision-making under pressure

  • Competition preparation and performance routines

  • Resilience, confidence and self-management skills

  • The standards and expectations required in County and representative cricket

Strength and Conditioning will be integrated throughout the programme, with a focus on cricket-specific movement, athletic development, physical readiness and the demands of competitive match performance.

Sessions will help players improve movement quality, physical robustness and preparation strategies to support long-term performance and development.
